We are honored to announce that the KOHTEI Art Pavilion, located within the Shinshoji Zen Museum and Gardens, has been featured in Taschen’s prestigious volume, Contemporary Japanese Architecture.
This project represents a defining moment in my career. Beginning in 2006, artist Kohei Nawa and I shared a vision for the seamless merger of art and architecture. This ambition led to the establishment of the architecture department at SANDWICH Inc., where I directed the design and completion of KOHTEI alongside Nawa and architect Lee Yoshitaka.
KOHTEI remains our first and most representative achievement where Art, Architecture, Garden, and Craftsmanship coincide. Appearing in a Taschen publication—a global benchmark for architectural excellence—reaffirms the enduring relevance of this meditative "ship" and its exploration of Zen through contemporary form.
