Summer 2022 | Special Report Overseas,

We are honored to announce that our project, the Chalk Garden at the UNESCO World Heritage site, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, has been featured in NIWA Magazine (Issue 247). As one of Japan's most prestigious publications dedicated to the art of garden design and landscape architecture, NIWA’s recognition of this work is a significant milestone for our studio.

Developed in collaboration with Otis Landscape Associates, the Chalk Garden is an exploration of materiality and ecological sensitivity. The feature, titled "Chalk Garden / Kodai and associates & Otis Landscape Associates," examines how we translated the geological essence of the site into a contemporary landscape that honors Kew’s storied history while offering a new, meditative experience for visitors.

This international recognition reaffirms our commitment to creating Gesamtkunstwerk—total works of art where architecture and landscape are inextricably linked. Whether in the heart of London or the Swiss Alps, our goal remains the same: to evoke a sense of "wonder" through a deep connection to nature and local heritage.
